The Kind of Care You Don’t Walk Away From

Not every patient gets better. But every patient deserves to be cared for.

That is the part of healthcare people do not always talk about. The part where progress is uncertain and outcomes are not guaranteed. Sometimes the goal is not always to fix something, but to support someone through it.

And for the people who have spent their lives in healthcare, that truth is not unfamiliar.

They have lived it.

Meet Wanda

Wanda Chernenko spent over 45 years as a Registered Nurse. She worked in surgery, obstetrics, emergency medicine, infection control, quality assurance, and as a nursing supervisor. She saw every side of healthcare, across multiple states, through decades of change.

When Wanda talks about her career, one story rises above the rest.

A young man came in after a serious car accident. Wanda cared for him for over a month. Day after day, she showed up. Not just as a nurse, but as someone who genuinely cared. She got to know him, his family, and his story.  She was rooting for him.

He was eventually transferred to another hospital, and he did not make it.

Not long after, Wanda received a card from his family thanking her for being “his favorite nurse.”

She has never forgotten that.

When the Roles Shift

Wanda Chernenko lives at Edgewood, supported by All Care Health Solutions that help her continue living life on her terms. And like so many who spent their lives caring for others, she understands something deeply.

Accepting care is not always easy, especially when you are used to being the one who helps and the “fixer.”

But needing support does not take away who you are.

It just means someone else gets to show up for you.

Where All Care Comes In

This is where All Care makes a difference.

Through home health and hospice services, All Care provides support in the moments that are not always straightforward.

  • Care that meets you where you are, whether that is at home or in a community
  • Therapy that helps you regain strength, confidence, and independence
  • Support that adapts as needs change over time
  • Hospice care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life

It is not just about treatment plans. It is about making sure people are supported physically, emotionally, and even spiritually through every stage.

If Wanda reminded us of anything, it’s that when things get complicated, the right care doesn’t step back, it leans in.

Care That Stays With

For someone like Wanda, care has never been just about the outcome. It has always been about experience.

The way you are treated.
The way someone shows up.
The way you feel in the moments that matter most.

That is the kind of care people remember. And that is the kind of care All Care is built to provide.

During Nurses Appreciation Month, we are reminded that this kind of care carries on long after the career ends. It continues through the impact nurses leave behind and the way that care is carried forward every day.

Because sometimes the most important care is not about changing the outcome, it is about changing the experience.
